No beefing, I mean he does flood my dash with his liveblogging of his feelings about FSU/Jameis. I just cannot handle FSU fans chiming in their moral high ground on the Jameis case now that he isnt being charged. And given 1. FSU’s history of players and crime, 2. Florida as a state’s GLOWING reputation for being real shitty at law in general, and finally 3. the talk of Tallahasee’s investigators talk with the victim/whatever. I think its supremely unjustified as a fan to be proud he got off or to believe that justice has been done. A lady was sexually assaulted and now the one suspect is from what I understand free to do whatever. So hurray FSU fans your once in a generation talent QB didnt have enough evidence against him to go to court so your glory ride continues.
I love football as much as the next guy, but the sports worship continues.
What did you expect? What do you think the right response is? The legal system did its thing. Maybe it could have done better, maybe everyone actually did their best, at least in the end. Should the fans hate Jameis? Form a special group to reform the justice system? As a fan myself, it seems like there’s no real response except ambivalence. I’m happy he wasn’t charged for what I think are good reasons. But I also want justice, which wasn’t really done either way z
I will never party with that kind of attitude. This “oh well lol” attitude towards athletes involved in serious charges.
I am not a SJW by any means but its straight bullshit. Reasonable doubt apparently doesnt apply to a five star QB prospect on the verge of winning a ACC title and BCS. No regular man who had matched DNA to a rape kit would get a no charge or even a no court case.
But hey whatever, what did I expect.
From a totally outside perspective, I was more annoyed that the sexual assault case was being made about football. Whether the team can or cannot play at full strength should not be as important as whether the girl who was allegedly assaulted can have the justice system work for her. Maybe I don’t know some of the facts though. Football just shouldn’t be the priority here.
